Bueños Dias from Cusco
Hey there everyone!
I am sure that you have all been anxious to hear something back from us, well here we are doing great, tired but great! We have just got back from Machu Picchu and are exhausted from the day … I will dive into more details later!
I believe that the last time we talked we were heading out for the first of three villages that we would be witnessing to. Well let me tell you God did some amazing works in that first village. We took an hour bus ride up the moutains to the village of Chiripata, deep in the mountains of the Andes, and were greeted with instant hospitality the second we stepped off the bus. Our first task was getting settled in and once we found our place to stay for the night we did what we came there to do … share the news about Jesus Christ, going door to door and handing out Bibles and inviting them to watch a film depicting the life of Jesus! It was such a joy to see these villagers, many with nothing to their name, sit and watch and respond to the love of Jesus; so much so that many didn´t want to go back to their homes!
The next day we woke up and packed up all of our gear and headed out to the village of Patabomba. We hiked for a good 2 hours along the mountains before we reached the village. Once we arrived we had lunch and got unpacked and then hit the mountain side for more evangelism. Some of the team went very high and some stayed down low, but the end result was that pretty much every villager recieved the word of God that afternoon; only the Lord could do something like that. The evening was much the same in that many villagers came to see the greatest news ever in movie form.
The final village that we came to was Pacor Alto, high above the other two villages and actually on the other side of the mountain, so that can only mean one thing… HIKING! It was an incredible 2 hour hike along the side of the Andes mountains. I wish I had the words to sit and describe to you the sight that we saw, but I couldn´t even do it justice. When we finally reached the village we busted out and went to every home we could reach to share the word and tell about the video at night. One cool instance about that night was once the video was over the people that were there prayed for us in their native tongue; such a wonderful thing to hear people talking to God in many languages!
We woke up the next morning and packed for the long hike down the mountain. I can say no injuries were recorded, all safe and sound back to Cusco for the afternoon. That night we got the oppurtunity to go into town and shop in the main part of Cusco. Afterwards we had a celebration dinner with our translators and pastor that accompanied us on our journey; it was a great chance to thank and digest all that the Lord had done for us over those 3 days.
We may have been done with the missions part of the trip, but we had one more destination to reach. We woke up bright and early this morning and ventured out to one of the seven wonders of the world, Machu Picchu. Let me tell you God was showing off when he made this place because the views from on top of this city were something so beautiful it almost looked fake. We toured the city, had bible reading, and some of the team got to meet Larry Fitzgerald a pro football star high atop the ancient city, so cool!
It is now about 9:30 here local time in Cusco and the team is exhausted, physically, to say the least. But I can tell you one thing … it is a good tired, one that we are all proud to say that we wouldn´t have any other way! We know that we were all used by God to get his name out to the people of Peru, whether or not these people come to know or grow in faith is up to God. We have firmly put this whole trip in his hands and we know that he is going to do what he will do for his kingdom.
As we pack our things and get ready to fly towards home tomorrow, we are all confident and assured that God will pick up where we stopped and the name of the Lord will flourish more now more than ever! We cannot thank you all enough for giving us this privalege and may you know that your help was put into action and God was brought to parts of the world that hadn´t heard His name. May God keep us safe tomorrow as we depart and may you pray for these people as we leave them in the hands of our Lord! See you soon.
