More than a text message!
¡Hola!
We are writing to you on a spanish keyboard, needless to say it is an experience. Our journey has been life-changing so far. We started bright and early, and it took about 29 hours to get to our first village. After a wooden boat ride on a tributary of the Amazon, we finally arrived in Palmareal. We spent two nights in tents in their community church there. The first afternoon we walked around, met some of the villagers. With only one translator on this part of the trip, all of us got a little bit of a quick lesson in Spanish. Our schooling was definitely put to use! The people there were very welcoming to us, and we invited them to the church for our first night program. Michael shared his testimony, we sang some songs, and got to show the Jesus film. We went to sleep knowing that God´s word was shared. What a great feeling!
That night the rain began and continued through the next day, but this did not stop us from doing what God had planned for the day. The ladies started the day by going hut to hut and the guys began their day with camp programming for the kids at the village church. The ladies’ experience going hut to hut was amazing with opportunities to share the Gospel to many women and young girls believing in what Christ had done for them. The programming the guys were able to do at the church with little Spanish was engaging and fun as well! We were able to play and love on them as well. That night we were able to finish the Jesus film and Dylan was able to share her testimony. We also had the opportunity to hand out books to help disciple the new believers that will go to the church in Palmareal and leave some programming equipment with the pastor to use as well. He was very grateful.
We were sad to leave, but left at 3am in the morning we caught a boat ride from the village back to Port Maldonado. This was a very interesting boat ride as there weren´t any lights on the boat! And it was dark! When arriving at Port Maldonado we then boarded an airplane to Cuzco. The flight took us from river level to approximately 10,000 ft. We spent the day in Cuzco adjusting to the attitude and gearing up for the next part of our trip!
Now we are about to leave Cuzco with all our stuff to head to three different villages for the next four days! Your prayers have been much appreciated and keep praying that our health, safety, and most importantly that lives are changed for His kingdom. Thank you so much! Hope to write to you soon!
